Our heroine Cindi stepped off of the plane, blinking her tired eyes and cursing her parents. They said that flying coach would be a "learning experience", giving her the chance to see how the less fortunate live. Whatever. This whole ‘work experience’ thing was to teach her that, why did the lesson have to start on the plane?
She looked around, trying to spot a familiar face. Instead, she found tired, cranky people, all waiting for their baggage. Her bags were some of the first to come by on the carousel and in spite of her best ‘helpless female’ face, no one assisted her in retrieving them.
Finally, she spotted several people, all wearing the same Armani ties and headed in their direction. These must be the counselors.
"Hey there campers! Welcome to Georgia!" the first one chirped. There was a grumble from the crowd at the perkiness of people who obviously hadn’t just spent 24 hours on a plane. Cindi glanced at the people around and saw that they all looked as pissed off and tired as she felt. Undeterred, the counselor continued, "Since we’re all here, we’ll be heading to our training camp, where you’ll all be prepared for your ‘work experience’ experiences!" Laughing uproriously she led the group outside to where a bus was waiting.
Again, no one appeared to help load the bags, so Cindy aimed her cutest smile at the boy standing next to her. He smiled back and lifted Cindy’s bags onto the bus, right after his own. Before he could ask her name, she entered the *shudder* bus and sat beside a girl.
"Hi there you must be Cindi I’m Tina and I’m from Wisconsin I hear you’re from the O.C. which is super cool cuz I like totally loved that show but my Mom said it wasn’t realistic but I told her she was wrong so is it like real life?" The girl who she’d sat down next to was pretty, in a quirky, best friend that never gets the guy kinda way, and talked without pausing for breath.
Knowing that she could not put up with that, Cindi said, "No. It’s not like that at all," and turned on her i-pod. Tina kept talking, apparently not realizing (or caring) that no one was listening. She chattered for the entire 2 hour bus ride to the training camp. Cindi pulled out her ear-buds just in time to hear Tina say "Oh my god we get to share rooms wouldn’t it be cool if we were roomies I mean I can totally see us becoming bffs..."
It took that long for Cindi to decipher the first part of what she’d said, "Wait," she interrupted,
"We have to share rooms?"
"Ew!" another girl said. Cindy turned to see her and knew that she’d just met her camp bff.
